How to use

  1. 1 Type a function of x, e.g. x^2 - 4, sin(x), or 2*x + 1.
  2. 2 Set the x range to zoom in or out.
  3. 3 The graph redraws as you type.

Why use this tool

  • Plot any single-variable function instantly.
  • Supports powers, trig, logs, roots, π and e.
  • Runs entirely in your browser.

Frequently asked questions

What functions can I plot?

Any expression in x using + − × ÷, ^ (powers), parentheses, and functions like sin, cos, tan, ln, log, sqrt, abs, exp, plus the constants π (pi) and e.

Do I need to write the multiplication sign?

Usually no — 2x and 3(x+1) are understood. When in doubt, write * explicitly (2*x).

How is the curve drawn?

The function is sampled at 500 points across the x range and connected; gaps appear where the function is undefined (e.g. dividing by zero).

Can I plot trigonometric functions?

Yes — sin(x), cos(x), tan(x) and their inverses. Angles are in radians.

What is Function Grapher?

A function grapher plots the graph of a single-variable function y = f(x) over a chosen x range, supporting polynomials, trigonometric, logarithmic and exponential expressions.
